The needs assessment for the CLIMA-KIT project identified gaps, challenges, and opportunities for implementing climate education in schools.
Through 26 interviews with 9 experts, 12 teachers, and 5 students, it was found that while there's varying knowledge among teachers, everyone agrees on the
importance of climate education. Both Belgium and Türkiye lack a formal curriculum for climate education, relying on school initiatives.
Recommendations include a spiral curriculum covering all subjects, starting at a young age, and being sensitive to socio-economic and cultural diversity.
The importance of diverse educational methods, mitigating eco-anxiety, integrating with school culture,
and providing adequate materials and training for teachers was emphasized. The report concludes with recommendations for the CLIMA-KIT project and future endeavors.
The reports are available in three languages: English, French, and Turkish. You can view and download them below!
